Abstract

Title: Partner infertility as 21st century epidemics. Diagnosis and treatment

Infertility is both a medical and socio-demographic problem. According to the data, infertility affects about 10–16% of people of reproductive age, thus becoming recognized as a social disease as well. There are many factors that cause infertility. The basis of diagnosis and treatment is to take a medical history with both partners to determine the cause of infertility. Laboratory medicine offers a wide range of tests used in the diagnosis of infertility, but not all of them are recommended due to inconclusive clinical data. Properly selected diagnostic tests will allow the selection of an appropriate infertility treatment. In this review paper, the tests used in laboratory diagnostics, their limitations and application, as well as methods of treating disorders that cause infertility will be presented.

Keywords: infertility, epidemics, clinical chemistry, assisted reproduction methods
